The Lovlina Borgohain boxer, who will represent India in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, go down to Twitter to vent its frustration on how the training process is hampered due to certain factors. Reacting to the post, Sports Department, Ministry of Youth & Sports Affairs Tweeted, “We have urged the Indian Olympiad Association to immediately arrange the accreditation of coach Lovlina Borgohain.”
“I am very sorry I told me that I continued to be harassed because of the removal of my coach. The removal of my constant coach, who has helped me win the Olympic medal for my country, influenced my training process for competition, “he wrote on Monday.
“One of them is Sandhya Gurungji, recipient of Dronacharya. Both of my coaches have to ask many times, even in the training camp, before they were included at the last time. At this time, my coach Sandhya Gurung wasn’t even in the Commonwealth Games Village because he was still not in and my training process was stopped only 8 days before the Olympics. My second coach has also been sent back to India, “he added.
Even after asking for so much, this still happened and this has caused me to be mental harassment. I don’t understand how I will focus on my game if this is still there. This is the reason why my performance does not reach the target in the world championship and I do not want this politics to damage my CWG opportunities. I hope I can free myself from this political shackle and bring a medal to my country, “he concluded.
According to PTI, BFI on Monday issued a statement that according to the rules only 33 percent (1/3) from the play contingent was permitted as supporting staff. The Indian boxing contingent has 12 play members (8 men and 4 women) and according to the rules, the number of supporting staff will be four, which includes a traveling coach.
BFI further stated that “Boxing requirements in connection with the coach and supporting staff are slightly different because there are several battles, which can be one by one.
“With the help of IOA, the number of supporting staff rose from 4 to 8 for all contingents of 12 boxers.” Reacting to Lovlina’s accusation that she had to really beg to include his coach for training camps and exposure tours, BFI said that “Ensuring that Sandhya Gurung was in a training camp in Ireland.”
