WADGAONSHERI – Ahmednagar Road Ward has reported the maximum number of dengue fever cases in July this year. With 11 cases in this ward in July alone. WADGAONSHERI – Ahmednagar Road and Aundh Barer have reported a maximum of 30 cases of dengue fever since January. As Municipal Corporation (PMC), officials continue to combine the places of residential and commercial spaces to examine mosquito breeding places, the city has reported around 193 cases of dengue fever this year.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), dengue is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. Dengue fever virus is transmitted by female mosquitoes from Aedes aegypti species who are also Chikungunya vectors, yellow fever and zika viruses.
In July alone, the PMC Department of Health issued 758 notifications to the community and commercial spaces in and around Pune for mosquito breeding places. The total fine collected by PMC since January is ₹ 65,400 by issuing 1,232 notifications to places in the city.
So far, Pune has reported 50 new cases of dengue fever in July. After the WadgaonSheri, Aundh-Baner Ward has reported seven cases in July.
Dr. Sanjeev Wavare, assistant head of health said that before July, April reported cases of the highest dengue fever in PMC with 42 positive test citizens at that time.
We have strictly increased publishing notice to places where breeding places were found as in the rainy season increased. We have seen that the Chikungunya case is relatively low this year. However, if the place to multiply is present, the threat of dengue fever and chikungunya remains. The Pune District has reported the highest cases of dengue fever and chikungunya in Maharashtra until the last June.
